In April 2023 we had the privilege of moderating the 2nd Stakeholder Workshop on “Eel Management in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania”.
On behalf of the state research institute (in this case the Institute of Fisheries) we sat down with around 10 stakeholders from commercial and recreational fishing, administration, nature conservation and research to bring the traditionally conflicting interests into dialogue. It was particularly important for us to maintain and strengthen these contacts in order to protect the eel stock in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the long term and to maintain fishing in the state.
