This year, the Future Workshop of the German Geophysical Society (DGG) discussed the current and future challenges and opportunities for the organisation. It took place in Bremen on 9 and 10 March 2023, and we were privileged to design, moderate and document the workshop.
During the preparation, the main workshop aim was to develop a joint understanding to what extent the DGG should integrate itself into a superordinate society with other geophysical societies. However, at the start of the actual workshop, there was a clear tendency against integration among the participants. We therefore adapted the content and questions of the workshop at short notice and thus contribute to an efficient event. In a solution-oriented manner, we worked with the participants to identify other important issues and recommendations for the future of the DDG.
The results of the workshop have since been implemented independently by the participants in the “Future Committee”.
We would like to thank the DGG and all participants for the excellent cooperation and the great feedback on our work and we are already looking forward to the next event!
